How to connect with your people: prioritize your content

I’m often asked: do we really need an e-newsletter?

I often respond: yes.

There are times when the answer might be: not right now. However, I do think it’s one of the best ways to provide engaging content to those who WANT to hear what you have to say.

In Canada, we have Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation and it is mandatory for businesses and organizations to ask consumers, members and followers for consent to send them electronic communication.

So once you’ve got an engaged audience that has opted in, I say: give them what they want!

But first, prioritize your content so you can streamline what you produce.

This doesn’t mean you only use one communication vehicle, it just means you focus on one.

Using the electronic newsletter example, if it is a priority for your business communication, it can be used as a vehicle to tell your followers what you’re doing, what’s new, your organization’s latest innovation and what people are saying about you. It is also a great place to re-purpose videos, articles and social posts that you’ve already created to give them more exposure.

Prioritizing the e-newsletter as a curation of your content also serves to keep your organization top of mind for those who regularly receive one in their inbox. Even if they don’t read it right away or skim it, you can consider it a regular touch point with your followers.

If you have been thinking about putting together an e-newsletter for your business or organization but creating and curating content seems overwhelming, let’s chat about how I can help.
